The Population Reference Bureau estimates that by 2050, the population of the developed world will have increased by only 49 million while the population of the developing world will surge by 2.9 billion. This means there will be six people living in developing countries for every person in the developed world.
People in developing countries are eager for knowledge, vision and opportunity. Education and information are the most significant and immediate areas for growth. A large percentage of the world’s richest people are technology entrepreneurs, and many of them are inventing new technologies to solve problems that affect the planet’s population. At Linqia, we dream of connecting the developing world to the developed world through online communities and groups. We are working to turn this dream into reality by partnering with these entrepreneurs to help them connect people and communities with information and opportunities.

Irregular weather patterns can have devastating effects on the world’s agricultural industries. To a farmer in Indonesia, this effect is more personal. His livelihood is threatened. He is in desperate need of new information to help him protect his crops. But where does he begin? Who will he talk to, and who will understand his concerns?
Imagine if this farmer had the opportunity to connect to an online community or group specialised in agriculture. Another farmer in Australia belonging to the same community or group could give him the information he needs. The Australian farmer, having experienced the same problems, knows of new ways to protect crops from drought and flooding. Within their online community or group, he shares what he knows with his Indonesian counterpart who then relates it to his fellow Indonesian farmers. The Indonesian farmer, along with his local colleagues, can now look forward to a better harvest despite erratic weather changes.

A child in the small village of Ahuano on the Ecuadorian side of the Amazon dreams of becoming an architect. But because he lives poverty, he does not have the same quality of education as a child in London does.
